Requesting advice launching website #angularjs #reactjs

  • Yes, but if the primary DNS server goes down, how would the secondary DNS server kick in if I don’t have another server.
  • I get confused between my server and – primary and secondary – servers.
  • You don’t need to run your own DNS servers if you’re hosting a website.
  • But what I read is that a DNS primary and a DNS secondary are necessary.
  • I’d like to expand my business by putting a second server in a second collocation facility and a third server in a third place and so on.

My question is not technical but organizational. I’m launching a website.
I am at the testing stage now but I would like to put my server in a collocation facility. The thing I don’t get is that DNS-wise, I read that it is common practice to have two DNS servers (primary and secondary which I understand).

My question is not technical but organizational. I’m launching a website. I am at the testing stage now but I would like to put my server in a collocation facility. The thing I don’t get is that DNS-wise, I read that it is common practice to have two DNS servers (primary and secondary which I understand).

My question is therefore: should I put one or two servers in a collocation facility? I’m at a loss.

Soon, I’d like to expand my business by putting a second server in a second collocation facility and a third server in a third place and so on.

If you need more info, pls let me know. Thanks for your help. Tim

EDIT: it’s a rather large project (to me). So hosting my website at an existing webhost like Hostgator, OVH, etc isn’t going to cut it.

A single server can host several virtual servers. With one server you could do everything you need. Using a whole server to host one website in a colocation facility seems like an extremely large startup cost though.

Yes, but if the primary DNS server goes down, how would the secondary DNS server kick in if I don’t have another server. I get confused between my server and – primary and secondary – servers. I don’t understand the point in setting primary and secondary DNS on one only server. – tinous 38 mins ago

Just for clarification: you’re asking about running your own DNS servers? Might I ask why you want to run your own DNS servers? As far as I know, you don’t need to run your own DNS servers if you’re hosting a website.

No, I don’t want to run my own DNS server. But what I read is that a DNS primary and a DNS secondary are necessary. So I’m wondering what to do next to launch my website. – tinous 43 mins ago
