A different point of Vue – Rodrigo Juliani – Medium

A different point of Vue #vuejs #react #angularjs #javascript #vuejs

  • When I started looking about Vue, I felt empowered by how friendly it was to a newcomer like me (mostly thanks to the awesome Guide they provide), how simple it was to define components and whole pages, or integrate them with other frameworks.I’ve been using it for a year already, Vue2 was born during that time only to make things better, and little by little a “Personal project” became my most trusted resource when developing front-end.
  • So free that you can also use any CSS pre-processor you want, although you can directly put SASS code in your components. What about support?Big ones also fall harderYeah, yeah… Angular is backed by Google, React by Facebook… Who backs Vue?
  • A similar situation happens with Vue, since it’s Evan You’s creation, I’m pretty sure he will do amazing things now that he has the support of a team fully committed to Vue.Also… have you realized Vue is Twice as popular as Angular?
  • At the moment of this writing, Angular has 20782 stars in github, Vue has 43557 and React 59955.
  • Every day many sub-frameworks arise (such as the awesome vue-material) and small components to make your life easier, the ecosystem relying on Vue grows as much as products using it.I, for one, will continue mixing it in everything I do while I can, because I consider it the most honest effort to make developers life easier.

Some days ago, at the office, we were discussing which technology/framework should we use in a new project so we could build a really cool front-end. Several ideas were tossed on the table, Angular…

Angular-cli

  • Angular-cli has simplified the life of a lot of developers reducing the startup time of a project and giving the ability to focus only on the code without wasting time in configurations.
  • However, a lot of angular developers (me included) were not able to use angular-cli because was not possible to change the configuration, adding new plugins or in general use all the flexibility that webpack offer.
  • Yesterday, after a long day while I was relaxing on the couch reading some news on twitter and boooom the twitter that I was waiting for months it’s finally here: Angular-cli from version 32.3 has a new feature called eject that allow you to generate a webpack.config.js for your project.
  • First of all we need to install angular-cli globally (for whom was already using it remember that it has changed name from angular-cli to @angular/cli) :

We’re ready to generate a new project with the cli ( I like scss so I’ll use it):

Until now nothing new, we just created a normal project with scss support….

  • In your project you’ll find finally the file that you were dreaming for a long time: webpack.config.js and you finally are free to add the plugin that you like.

Version 32.3 of Angular-cli allow you to create your own webpack.config.js adding the plugin and the configuration that you need

Setup for local development

  • There are many more files in the project folder on your machine, most of which you can learn about later .
  • npm start fails in Bash for Windows which does not support networking to servers as of January, 2017.
  • Each file has a distinct purpose and evolves independently as the application grows.
  • Clone or download the QuickStart seed into your project folder.
  • Files inside src/ “belong” to your app.

Angular is a development platform for building mobile and desktop web applications

Choosing Right Javascript Development Framework: AngularJS vs React vs Ember

  • Ember has positioned itself as a framework for ambitious projects but unfortunately it is not built for mega corporations.
  • To determine which framework is right for you depends on evaluating your application’s needs versus the merits of each framework.
  • Ember framework is a full-featured framework which specializes in making dynamically rendered single page applications.

Experimenting With React.js and React Native – Lane Sawyer – Medium

  • Were I to recommend a UI framework for a new project, whether on the web or mobile, I would start with React.js.
  • I suppose I never looked at React because I thought I already had my favorite front-end framework: Angular.js .
  • But with the new Angular 2 using TypeScript, it almost feels like an entirely new framework.
  • React has no opinions, you can use whatever framework you’d like
  • The only other front-end framework I’ve used is Knockout.js .

I started a side project using it over my holiday break, and yesterday I got a React Native Android app up and running. Now I’m hooked. At first I was wary of JSX, but I’ve come to embrace it due to…
