Why Videopin.me works?

Okay, here is a story from a user of videopin.me who really appreciates the power of learning.

I have been in the area of software development for over 20 years. Boy was it hard at the start. You had to be an expert in the area you worked in and for those millennials, it was painful for a page to load. There was no spinning up google on your browser, finding the answer, pasting it in your work and then moving onto the other 1000 tasks you had lined up in your queue.

Now we have so many videos on any subject, you can become an expert by self learning. Youtube and the other platforms out there have changed the way millions learn.

Fast forward today and the only thing that frustrated me was trying to go back to those sections in the videos that I once bookmarked. I would scroll/scrub around and would never find that section. Okay, book mark another video but I would have the same issue again a few weeks later. With the tasks still queuing up I would give up in frustration.

I started using www.videopin.me a few months ago and I have really enjoyed how I can go back to sections over and over again. With small sections I can easily absorb the most relevant material and move on. But then again I do not think I really understood the power of micro-learning until the following happened.

My 13 year old son wanted to learn Unity 3D last week. I made a couple of videopins and I was shocked how many times I referred to the pins as he was trying out tutorials. It was amazing how we would get to a point in the tutorial and then think ‘hey we have seen that working somewhere else, lets check of the videopin’. By doing this, he was able to enjoy his learning and get a lot done (he managed to map a terrain and is no writing some code to get FPS working). If I was learning at his age, I would have given up but videopin.me made it so easy and fun.

So videopin.me is an amazing tool. I am now using it to recap a lot of the material I have created over the last month.

Give it a go. It will make you a better learner and more importantly make learning fun.
